^ you realize that the bearing has an outer race and inner race? outer race is press fit into the hub (a few tons, maybe 12 ton press to install it?), so there is no way in hell that the bearing falls out of the hub! no need to "hold" it with anything... the axle sit in the inner race and is locked by splines. it doesn't need more, because there is nowhere else it can go
as you said, the hub is locked on axle with a 30mm nut, but then again the hub is press fit into the steering knuckle (bolted to ball joint, strut and outer tie rod end), so really there is nothing to worry about ...
