wats up TN members, i really need some help heres my situation... i have a 94 4cly carmy with abs brakes and disc all around and siting on BC racing coils and i want to put is300 rims on thats been sittin and just looking at me in my garage for MONTHS now. i read and reserched count less thrends but im still stump. i want to get these wheels on asp
the issue is the front calipers.. should i BBK upgrade? or can i swap V6 caplipers and call it aday. cause i know the V6 camry have no issue with the ISrims.
no no...you gotta put tires on first...thats the problem.
the V6 brake upgrade is all youll need. I wouldnt go any bigger becaue you can really feel the heavier hardware on the 4cyl. But i wasnt aware we had any problems with the IS rims at all except for the offset. Id get some 5-10 MM spacers to pul them away from the suspension a little.
lol it dose need new tiers alsoo, thanks!! v6 it is but wats involoved?... v6 clipers only? i love the fact bbk gives that aggressive look but ur right i wouldent need that amount off stoping power nor the extra 10-12 pounds added waight. the last time i test fitted the wheels was wen it was riding on struts and it was pretty close to it (in the rear) i dident bother trying it on the front cause of the 4cly caplier issue that i read about. but with the coils on i never got a chance to try it aging. soo wat should i put down on this list for v6 speeeedd?
This was taken from the FAQ section. Check there next time ya have questions and youll get your answers faster...
V6 brakes on the I4, you need the following:
-Caliper, Caliper Bracket, Pads, Rotor.
-For the backing plate, gently bend the edges all the way around so that it does not hit the rotor.
make sure the calipers are es300 or gen3 V6 (dual piston)
if ya want new parts...go to rockauto.com...if ya want used go to a junkyard. Id suggest getting new everything except for the caliper brackets, thoes you can find at a junkyard.

bigbird, do u think i can use just the V6 rotors with the 4cly calipers?
NO, You'll need all the V6 hardware for it to work. Currently working on 5lb V6 rotors (stockers are 15lbs) for my car if you're concerned with weight - see my threads!

Sure! I need to test out my current setup as soon as I remake the brake caliper pistons out of...hehe it's a surprise...but I have two pistons done already, am doing the other two this week then it'll be time to send them off for an anti-friction coating. Will keep TN up to date as it gets closer to completion!

honestly i have the ISrims just sitting there and would love to put it on thats y im swaping my brakes to accomadate for the fitment. i would get new wheels but in time and i guess if the weight is really a issue for a DD. ill just be one of the sick 3gen runing coils on hubcaps lol. but i kind of like the wheel Specialmen240 have on his car im lookin for somthing like those but in the meanwhile it would be on IS
dude, the IS wheels look great. On a DD id be more concerned with how I like the look then weight as well. Light weight wheels mean little in daily traffic. Just remember the spacers, youll need thoes in the back. the brakes are gonna feel great too once you swap em. best of luck
