Hello All
I need to change my torque strut mount on my 2000 Solara convertible. It is trashed. Wanted to purchase on line but all the torque strut mounts are dogbone mounts. My torque strut mount has two legs on it (mounts in three places, not two). Two questions:
1) Where can I purchase this as aftermarket product? On line suggestions? Or should I get OEM from dealer? I plan to keep car for a couple years max.
2) Difficult to replace? Looks like a bolt on item, except might take some muscle to get all bolt holes to line up. Must support engine?
Well, I sure don't think I have a CVT tranny. This Solara shifts like my 2001 Camry. You can distinctly feel each gear. My understanding of CVT technology is that you don't feel each gear and you hold relatively steady RPM, even under acceleration. I've driven newer cars that had this technology and they feel a lot different! (about as fun to drive as a sewing machine...).
Let's see if anyone has seen this mount before and knows how easy (or not) it is to swap out.
as said CVT & CP refers to body style on Solaras, and is unrelated to transmission type, CVT is convertible, CP is Coupe, no rocket science behind it. parts are sometimes different between hard top and soft top solaras...
There 2000 solaras came only with those 4 type of transmissions (according to my 2000 Solara FSM RM713U):
a) 4cyl automatic A140E
b) 6cyl automatic A541E
c) 2 manual gear boxes: S51, E153
I doubt that ANY of them is CVT trans type, you guys are over-estimating Solara, no CVT on those ...
