What should I be doing at a 100k to make sure I get another 100k out of her?

My Camry is a 98' v6 just passed the 100k mark and I would really appreciate some of you guys and gals could shedding some light on what maintenance I should be doing. I'm not interested in asking the dealership and be told I need 1 million things done...

I DO know the timing chain is something major that needs to be done at 100k, is this correct? Relating to the timing chain, the transmission was changed at 70k miles from another Camry with 40k miles. Is the timing chain and transmission one piece or are they separate?

Thanks

The timing belt, water pump,(crank and cam seals if needed). Transmission service, check air filter. Valve Cover gaskets if they are leaking.

The timing belt and transmission are separate. The timing belt drives the camshaft and water pump on the engine while the transmission transmits powers from the engine to the wheels. As pmesfun posted, both items need to be serviced. The transmission is not hard to service but the timing belt job can be a handful without the right tools to know-how. (A timing chain rarely needs service but we didn't get that) Other than that; basic items like pcv, fuel filter, air filter, battery condition, spark plugs and wires, should be check and are quite easy to replace.

I would say stay on top of oil and other fluid leaks.

I had a bunch of oil leaks I let go for a while. This excess oil ruined a bunch of hoses too, it degrades rubber.

I'd do a change on all fluids I think, even the ones you don't usually do. I'm running Walmart Mobil 1 Synthetic 0W-30 "fuel economy" oil that stuff works great for me.

Otherwise enjoy your low-mileage gem and stop worrying.
