Manual Conversion 3SFE questions

Hi

It is possible that i might be buying a 4th gen(?) camry off my brother, for cheap. It is an SV40/V40 Camry(well actually a vista, but the same thing) It is 1994, and currently is a 3SFE Auto

So far, it looks like i can probably potentially use these boxes:

C52
S53
S54

Now it seems the S54 would be the better one to go for? There is one available locally, which is a S54-04A. It has been pulled from a FWD Toyota Curren ST206

This is the plate from the car in question:

The seller of the above box, also has other manual parts available for a little extra: clutch operating gear, the gear lever and control cables/rods and complete handbrake setup

He doesnt have the flywheel or clutch available. What else would i be likely to need?

Also, for flywheel and clutch, so would my motor be a 8 bolt? Being a 94 3SFE? So could i just look out for an 8 bolt flywheel from a 3SGE, or 5SFE? Or what is the story? then what for clutch?

any help/discussion/suggestions appreciated

Thanks

Anyone? I have found that if i want to fit an S53, then i will need to make sure my motor is the one with the 8 bolt flywheel, and the block without the oil cooler.

Cant see a block mounted oil cooler, where would it be? OR how would i tell from the revision etc

A swap is going to be a lot of trouble. Most people on this board will be from North America, most manual transmissions over here interchange no problem. I don't remember if the 4 cylinders used the s53 or s54, but I believe they work no matter what flywheel/clutch combo you use.

An E153 trans should theoretically work as well since sometimes you see 5SFE equipped cars with this tranny. Good thing with the e153 is that it handles 8500RPM shifts well, is beefier since it's normally mated to a 3.0L or larger motor, and the 5th gear ratio is 0.73:1 as opposed to the dime-a-dozen 5SFE/S54 combo with a 5th gear of 0.82:1.

But connected to a 3SFE motor? Never knew that motor was made beyond 1991 - but overseas things are a little different and not so $$$-driven like here.

3sfe engines were kept here for a while after 91 the rav4 actually had a vvt-i edition of the 3sfe

all s,c,e series transmissions have the same bell housing and will swap the only thing is try to go for the s53/s54 you will have less swap issues like drive axle differences

not sure if the 3s-g(t)e had more bolts (8) and the fe series carried less (6) or if they are all the same, but if it is a s series engine the flywheels should match (3s-fe, 5s-fe)
