4th Generation 1998 Camry L4 5SFE - Cold Start Rough Idle

Hi Everyone,

I have a 1998 Camry L4 5SFE (150,000 miles) with a couple problems. First, during a cold start my RPM stutters around 500. Next, when I put it in (D)rive, my car goes down the driveway as if it's in (N)eutral and I have to give it some gas before the gear "catches" and I'm good to go.

However, this doesn't happen when I've driven the car at least 5 minutes and start it again. When I do, it idles fine (starts about 1200 RPM then drops down to about 700 RPM).

I've searched the forums about issues closest to my symptoms. I've read everything between a dirty IAC valve to a bad ECT sensor... So I did a full throttle body and IAC cleaning (removed throttle body and IAC, cleaned the butterfly valve and IAC). I even went as far as replacing the ECT sensor and PCV valve and replaced the valve cover gasket.

I'm at a loss here and was hoping to get some insight or get pointed in the right direction from experienced DIYer's here!

Thank you!!!

Check the vacuum hose ends .... fuel pressure regulator ... VSVs ... anything else.
Hose ends need to be tight ... not pull off.

Can you get a scan tool to check for any OBDII diagnostic codes?
Usually Autozone or other store will check this for you.
