How do I remove the oil pump?

I have a 99 2.2l camry

After I removed the shaft bolt, I tried to remove the shaft of the oil pump but it seems like it' stucked.

could you give me any advice.. can I just hammer that rod thing?




another question is

I forgot to mark the tdc of the camshaft and I removed it..

the rod below the pic shoold be at tdc, right?



and when I install the seal of the camshaft, what size of pipe should I use? id *od?

I guess you could tap the shaft with a brass hammer until it slip off.

Can you rotate the pump or is it seized?

Once the nut retaining the pulley is removed, the shaft should comme off easily.

You can probably pry that pulley out a little bit simultaneously from both sides without warping the oil pump. It shouldn't take much. I believe I bought 1.5" pvc for this seal, the smallest piece sold at lowes was 24" long for $2.50 or so (10ft for $4.50.)

The pulley on the oil pump is held on by a nut. You need to hold the Drive rotor (Rear of pump) and bust the nut off. If you cant find anything to hold it without scratching the rotor, Jam a screw driver in-between the pulley and hold it in place. Then bust the nut loose.
