4th Generation 01 Camry 4 cyc - Battery Light

Hey guys, this forum has already helped me ten fold so I felt the need to register and say THANK YOU!

I do have a couple of questions though, hopefully this first one is the easiest....

My battery light is on.

Autozone tested it and it holds a charge, it reads over 13v and they said the alternator is in good shape too.

What else can I check?

All the terminals look fine, no corrosion and tight fit.

I'm sorta stumped.

Thank you!

The charge warning indicator is in series with the battery and the I.C. regulator, located in the alternator.
You might remove the wire bundle insert/plug from the alternator and spray it with an electrical contact cleaner ... just to get any grease or dirt out of the connection. .... Also spray the mating piece on the alternator.

If that doesn't work, I would suggest removing the alternator and taking it to a starter/alternator repair shop .... They could test the I.C. regulator.

Grab ahold of the wiring that is located on the top of the alternator while the car is running. See if the wiring is getting really hot. If it is, the regulator is junk and creating a ton of resistance. I had this problem on my 95 two months ago and it actually started melting my wiring. My alternator was putting off 14.7V.

Heat = resistance which is bad.. It either means (jumping off a ground point - wiring cut at some point); (Internal short - regulator bad)
