Where are the A/C sensors?

1998 Camry LE V6 w/ regular A/C (not climate control). A/C has worked fine until this year.

A mouse got into the passenger compartment circ fan this summer and found his demise via centrifugal force, but the A/C continued to work at low speed fan setting. I removed the fan within 2 days, also mouse, cleaned the fan blades and put it back together. The fan works fine now.

Within a few days after that the A/C failed (coincidental?). The compressor engages when the A/C push-button is selected, runs for a few seconds, disengages, and the light on the pushbutton flashes. I can repeat this process many times and the air starts to cool.

My first thought was the system need a charge, but shorting the pressure sensor on the dryer module (pins 1&4) doesn't change the compressor behavior, so it's not getting a low pressure signal. Also swapping the MGCLT relay with the horn relay makes no difference. Also the belts seem to have correct tension. The compressor isn't locking up, it sounds like it's running normally, for the few seconds it does run.

The mouse incident seems suspicious, is there a sensor in the air recirc somewhere that could have gotten chewed? What other sensors are there that will disable the compressor? I know there's a speed sensor on the compressor at least, but I don't know how to disable it. Haynes doesn't provide a schematic.

Where can I go to find more detailed schematics of the system?

Does that mean it didn't work on mid and high speed?

On the inlet side of the evaporator is the expansion valve (TXV) and possibly an inlet air temp sensor. The pressure switch may be a dual high/low pressure so you could have just tested the high side and not the low side. I doubt the mouse could have damaged the TXV as it's not electrically activated, but possibly the wiring to an air temp sensor. If you're sure no leaks and pressure good then you'll probably have to remove ducting to see if any chewed wires, or maybe remove blower motor and use a mirror to see what you can.

See the A/C section of the FSM ... also see the wiring diagram for A/C:
https://techinfo.toyota.com/techInfo....toyota.com%2F

There is a small module called the A/C Amplifier. It looks like it is located close to the blower motor. The FSM says to remove the glove compartment to get to it. You could remove the A/C amplifier, clean the contacts with contact cleaner and reinstall. Check for signs of wire damage. Maybe you could get a newer A/C amp from a salvage yard and try that.

Not sure if 5s-fe version of A/C amp is same as for 1MZ-FE.

Well not exactly. A mouse was embedded in the fan remember, at anything above lowest speed setting the dash would shake.
