3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
My 01 Camry is giving me the codes P0440, P0441, & P0446. I noticed about 10 days ago when I would do a cold start every morning it wouldn't turn over fully, but on the second try it would turn over. I thought it might be the fuel filter so I installed a new one. Now in the mornings it starts to sputter and then starts on the first try. However this morning after about 5 minutes of being on the engine light went on, and I came back with the codes P0440, P0441, and P0446. I just checked the gas cap and it felt like it was on okay, but I'm going to tighten it again and reset the codes. Anything beyond this I'm not to sure about. Any ideas based on what I've noticed happening when I start the motor?

I have the exact same car with the exact same trouble codes. It is your EVAP system...possibly your charcoal canister, vacuum leak, faulty gas cap, etc....
I used my UltraGuage to turn off the CEL and tightened the gas cap before that to see if that's what it was. The only thing it will cause is a bit more pollution, so unless you're a tree hugger then I wouldn't worry about it.
Hope this helped!

I was hoping someone could help me narrow down what I need to check based on the extra information I provided.
What extra information?

That's not info. that isn't even a coherent description of a symptom. Do you mean the engine would not start? Would not crank? And what do you mean by fully? Either it cranks or it doesn't, or it starts or it doesn't.
You gave 3 of the most common codes. if you used the search there are at least 10 discussions of this very same set of codes. Why would you expect people to help you if you won't even try to help yourself?
I used some BG K44 and added it to my fuel. The car got progressively better over the past few days and now it starts on the first time. All I have to do now is reset the light and see if it comes back on, but I don't think it will. The 44K seems to have really cleaned out the fuel system.

Maybe you have trouble with reading comprehension because other members knew exactly what I was talking about.
