95 XLE, P0153 CEL code, now overheating?

Had check engine light come on Friday evening on my way home from work, checked with OBD II sensor Saturday AM to find P0153 error code (O2 sensor circuit slow response, bank 2, sensor 1).

Figured being an O2 sensor it wasn't extremely time sensitive to fix so was going to look into it later this week when I have more time. Drove home for lunch today and noticed that I was really overheating on the gauge (almost 7/8ths of the way up). Turned car off, let sit for a few minutes, came out and restarted to see if it would overheat again. Within a few minutes it did, and I opened the hood to notice the radiator fans were not spinning at all.

Going to get it back on the OBD II hopefully tonight to see if anything else pops up, but was just curious if anyone may have any insight.

Other info: 95 XLE w/ 1MZ-FE 3.0 V6, 205K miles on the dial. If any other info is requested, feel free to ask.

Thanks in advance.

The over heating is probably due to the fans not working. Do they come on with the AC? Over heat and no cooling fans will not set any code so checking that is useless.

check the fuses under hood in a box on driver's side (square transparent type fuse blocks, they are described as CND and RAD if I remember correctly) and also the relays for Fan NO.1 and Fan NO.2, lastly make sure all plugs are fastened tight.

having no cooling fans is no fun, don't drive it far until it gets fixed, you risk blowing the Head gaskets.

based on car's mileage you also qualify for all oxygen sensors replacement (both upstream and the downstream too if you have it).

I'm certain it's overheating due to the fans, trying to get as much info as I can as I'd like to have this fixed extremely quick.

From looking, it seems that it could be several different issues (thermostat, coolant switch, relays, etc.)

I didn't even think to turn on the AC to see if the fans would even spin, but as I'm trying to get this fixed ASAP I came here first instead of messing around trying to figure out on my own.

Good and terrible news...

Good news is the fans spin, bad news is that I'm leaking antifreeze and have what appears to be oil in the antifreeze reservoir.

Just an update, leak is pretty severe wherever it's coming from. I'm praying it's the water pump as I'm fairly certain it comes from right above the two belt pulleys on the passenger side of the block and I'm hoping it's that as opposed to a head gasket or worse. It's in the shop as I just don't have time to get it up and running and I've never taken any of the belts off so I'm assuming it would be a long repair. I'm assuming there's still a gasket problem with the oil in the reservoir though.

We'll see.
