3rd Generation 95 Camry clunking

Ok... My girlfriend bought her a 95 Camry today with around 119,000 miles, when i was driving it back from Clear Lake City, i noticed some popping or clunking coming the from the rear of the car when driving over bumps, I'm thinking sway bar bushings or strut mounts... also the speed odometer is WAY off, it said 65 and my Girlfriend was driving my 07 Camry behind me called me and asked why i was going 85. is there a way to fix that with out having to buy a new speedometer??? But overall i am really impressed with the 95 it drives and rides as well as my 07 with 60,000 miles i am hoping that they both see at least 300,000 with out to much trouble be cause they are such amazing cars.

Thanks in advance!!!

Keith

Probably sway bar bushings and/or sway bar links. I think this is a fairly common problem.

For the speedometer, I would go to a salvage yard and try to get a cluster.

Just keep in mind, unless the vehicle is "Mileage EXEMPT" you could run into problems with getting a cluster with lower miles than the car currently has. Its recommended that you bring a new cluster somewhere that they can adjust the mileage for you. Also keep in mind that it's illegal to tamper with the cluster (as long as the numbers are all tight together on the odometer -- no gaps -- you are OK)

Good luck!
