How To Clear Air Bag Light?

A couple years ago I had a problem with my '93 Camry.

When it was fixed the Air Bag light was on and has been for the last couple years.

What's the easiest way to clear this light.. a couple people have tried unsuccessfully.

The Gen 3 Factory Service Manual has a section on SRS ... supplemental restraint system.

If you look at p. RS-65, there is a method to clear the SRS warning light, assuming that there is not a problem with the system.

It would be a good idea to take a look at the correct procedure for this ... so that you don't have any accidents or other problems.

Ok, this is what they suggest to clear that light.

what are they talking about...this is Greek to me.

I copied this from another forum a while back (they're referring to the DLC1 - data link connector under the hood):

Use two short grounding wires, one at TC and one at AB, then

I approximated the time between grounding TC AND AB (roughly .5 to 1 sec) and
then held Tc to ground and the light flashed continously..I removed the ground
from TC and Voila' problem solved.

This is probably why my air bag didn't deploy when I was sideswiped by that bus.. I am glad it didn't go off.. that would have been expensive to reset.

The procedure doesn't sound too complicated ... You need two wires.
Connect one end of each wire to a clean chassis ground point ... probably get some alligator clips for convenience.

The one warning in the FSM is to not make any mistakes in probing the connector .... which might cause the airbag to deploy ... so it says.

Get another opinion ... I'm just reading the manual pages.
