Ugly noise from the rear!!

I have a new to me 98 Camry that sounds like the rear end is falling off. When the brakes are applied hard or over a bumpy road. Its a metallic clank type of sound. I did a fair bit of driving and fixin over the last week but still can't make it go away. First off I put new tires cause the old ones were shot, after a short drive it felt like the rear brakes were grabbing and making the shudder. New pads and drums installed on the rear cause it needed it as well. The shudder diminished, under light braking all good, on a hard brake at highway speed not bad but at the 60km/hr normal brake the rear shudders and feels like its skipping but nothing in the pedal??? Just the seat of the pants...its in the back someware....threw it on the lift and everything is tight?? I read on here that the stabilizer/sway bar bushing make it sound/feel like the rear is falling off....could it be that simple?? It would be cheaper than rear struts.....the car brakes great and the pedal is smooth? I guess the ratteling from the back is the main issue with the meduim speed brake shudder?? Struts look good as well?? HELP!

Thanks.

Check your sway bar bushings. It sounds like thats your issue.

I had my sway bar bushing bracket fail once and that caused the SB to hang and slam up against the subframe over bumps causing a clunk.

It seems like you looked under the car already though, pretty obvious with the sway bar hanging down like that, at least the way it looked on mine.

Also, check the sway bar end links. Should be nice and tight. I had one go loose and it sounded like the caliper was bouncing in the wheel.
