4th Generation Window switch

Hi

My one-touch window switch does not work when I'm closing the window...it works fine with one touch when opening, just doesn't work with one touch when closing. I have to hold the switch until the window goes up completly. (PS only driver's side has one-touch window function).

Does anyone know how to fix this? Is it simple re-sync operation or something else?

Thanks

My 96 doesn't have a auto up, just down! I don't recall seeing any vehicle with an auto up feature...I could be wrong though!

My '92 Camry and '96 Avalon are the same way; auto down only. That's all they had back then. Newer cars have auto up. Like my son's '09 BMW.

Unless the window feature is different outside of the US market; most USDM Camrys have just auto-down until the Gen 6.

It's all spelled out in the owners manual. Don't have one? Get one. All kinds of useful info in there.

My '01 Camry definitely has auto up/down feature (its Australian built Camry) and its also stated in the owners manual as a standard equipment on all Camry models.

Any ideas how to get it working again?

OK so it was standard on all models in 2001. Does your '01 owners manual claim to cover other years, or is the car you are asking about an '01 too. My '99 is auto down only. My '02 auto down was standard and auto up/down was optional.

Since you apparently do have this switch, it would probably be 1 of 2 issues...the contact point is burnt, or a wire has broken in the bundle that goes thru the door, from years of opening and closing the door...assuming a gen4 is similar to gen3.

I would check the contact point first, which involves taking off the door panel, removing the master switch assembly, removing the foam around the assembly, and carefully disassembling the switch housing to get to the interior switch mechanisms. Then you need to clean the contact points with light sand paper and the assembly with electrical cleaner spray (might as well lightly sand all points and clean the unit well while you're in there.)

My car was manufactured in 2001 and the owners manual from my own car says that auto up/down switch is standard. Australian built base model Camrys came with power windows at the front and manual windows at the rear, however my own '01 model is the top of the range (Conquest V6) and came fully optioned including auto up/down switches and power windows on front and back.

I'll try to open the door panel and inspect the wiring..

Just as a last resort, is there any way to do some kind of reset function to save me from digging thru the wiring in the door?
