Replacement Radiator Selection

95 2.2L 5SFE Auto. I see that there's 1 row (5/8") and 2 row type (1 1/16"). What's the difference? I live in Florida and I'm thinking 2 row will actually be better and I'll probably buy Koyo brand. My current radiator is 2 row and it just has too many uses of Bar's Leak. It has a slow leak and just need to replace it.

I'm not sure about the difference between the two radiators, but Koyo is a great brand make sure you thoroughly flush out the leak stuff.

Yes KoyoRad is a great aftermarket brand. TN members say the TYCs they sell on rockauto are KoyoRads (but that may change at any time).

If the mounting dimensions are the same I'd always get the 2-row. It has more cooling surface area.

If you have all the corrosion problem I'd check for the voltage and also change the coolant more often - 2 years with 50% distilled water.

With the engine cold set the digital multimeter on DCV 2V, and then dip the negative probe into the coolant in the radiator neck, without touching the sides. And touch the positive probe to the negative post of the battery. DO you read < 0.3 volt?

JohnGD - Can't measure that yet. I'm using Saltaway to strip the salt deposits (will remain in there for a week). Thanks for how to check the specific gravity though. My problem I think is the end tanks.

$350 is a bit more than I planned to spend. Very nice radiator though....alum end tanks. $75 for Koyo 1 row and $130 for 2 row is a bit more of my range.

I agree..since I'm in Florida...I figured 2 row will probably suit it better...thought I can be a bit cheaper....although I'm sure 1 row would be ok too.

Yeah youll survive with the 1 row. Just go lower temp thermostat since youll be replacing that as well....

TYC on rockauto is/was Koyo. Best deal around, I paid 120$ shipped for rad, hoses thermostat and rad cap.

If money is an issue then one row at about $75+shipping should work fine. Google up a 5% discount code for rockauto as well.

The 95 is a bimetal engine (aluminum cylinder head and iron engine block). I would NOT use the pink SLLC coolant. I'd use either the Toyota Red with 50% distilled water or Valvoline Asian formula pre-mixed.

It's also a good time to change the radiator cap, OEM thermostat with a jiggle valve (or Stant OE style), and the radiator hoses. I prefer Gates hoses.

+1 for Koyo

Just installed a Koyo Radiator on my 96 Camry and it completely matched OEM.

Had to buy it locally, spent $107 including CA tax, delivered to my house.
