clock display

morning all have a 2000 camry and the clock display comes and goes from time to time.....tap on the clock lense and the clock display returns while keeping the correct time. I'm leaning towards a faulty clock, any ideas?

It's probably the wirings. You can check it by taking out the center gauge first. You'll have access to the clock after that.

If you don't find a prob with the wiring or connector, it's possibly bad solder joints and can be repaired. Here's a DIY thread showing how to do it. My Camry's clock had the same problem, but the clock is completely different. Couldn't find any bad solder joints so I just scored a used one on eBay for about $20. A new one from the dealer was over $100, IIRC

it could be something loose in the clock box itself. if wiring was getting interrupted then the clock would loose its setting and since it blacks out and then can come back with correct time setting, then my guess it's the clock's display or some internal connection in the clock module being loose.
