Unintended acceleration symptoms..

So basically I've been running around for the same problem for the past 2 months . 94 1MZ with 178k. Couple of months ago the car started accelerating (RPM shooting up to 5.5-6K and not stopping without shifting into neutral). Took it to a transmission shop who say its not the transmission but they changed the clutch packs (which they said needed to be changed..apparently?). Anyways the problem didn't happen for a month and a half. Yesterday i drove on the highway for a stretch of 65 miles and on my return trip home, the car does the same thing while i'm on the highway. I'm so scared to drive the freaking thing because the RPM gauge keeps surging so high. I just payed $280 to tow it back to my home. Does anyone know what could be causing this issue?

Scanned the TCM and ECU and no codes popped up...

I would look at the cruise control system.

Probably not a bad place to start. Pull the cruise fuse or disconnect wire to speed controller. Checked for binding in the accel cable?

Idle air control valve. Replace it and your problems more then likely gone.
