Gday everyone,
my sister inlaws se 92 2l over heats intermidently.
goes up to red hot on the needle, so i pull over and turn off engine to cool down, i take off ones cool, and straight away.
i get home and remove OVERFLOW cap and its bubbling away..
what could the issue be?
thermostat, waterpump, fans not coming on?

so what im planning on doing is removing the thermostat altogther and running the fans thru ignition so they are always on.
Or
what would you reccomend?

First turn on A/C and see if the fans kick on. If they do then that eliminates ones thing.

Then change thermostat and radiator cap and flush system and see if it keeps on happening.

yes fans come on when ac is on.
and radiator cap slightly hisses when really hot and overflow is bubbling.

Ok was working on the car. And whilst at idle the fans kicked in at appropriate temps. So I'm guessing that either the relay is playing up. Or. The thermostat is playing games.
