Hi everyone.
I've been having a clunk when I shift into reverse (98 Lexus ES300 (transmission A541E)), especially when it's warm (it's puzzling that it's barely noticeable in the morning on cold start and the engine is idling at 1800 rpm!). Also, it is shifting not so smooth into all gears as it was.

Could be mount issue. Check to see if your mounts are Cracking (Transmission and dog-bone). The front and back will be harder to diagnose.
Is it shifting hard into the gears??
If so, a possibility COULD be that the pin inside the differential walked itself out a bit and now when you shift it into Gear (Park to Drive) or Neutral to Drive or Park to Reverse, the differential is moving the distance that the pin has walked out.
if you dont notice any harsh engagement between P, R, or D I would say the differential pin is probably OK.

So... my question is: How can I check the so-called differential pin?
Thanks in advance!
