Okay since knowbody helped me I went out and found the answers, a true DIY. Thanks forum.
Any way, VIP S1000 alarm system this is what I learned for my 1996 Camry. The alarm is like a US port installed unit from Toyota.
The alarm unit is located under the driver seat. It has two plugin style connectors.
The alarm only unlocks and locks the doors.
The remotes are Egg shaped and Black only the gray remotes don't work.
I found the magic program button on the side of the unit, mine was hidden by the Zip tie that was used to secure the alarm unit to the floor. I ordered a remote off E-Bay single button non OEM $17.
Here is how I programmed it no dealer required or having to do a jig.
1. Put the key in the ignition and turn it on (do not start the car)
2. Push the driver seat all the way forward.
3. Go to the back seat behind the driver seat, and locate your alarm on the floor.
4. Find the magical green button on the side of the VIP S1000 alarm module. (with the wire connectors facing away from you, the button was located on the right side of the alarm)
5. Push in the green button for 2-3 seconds and release.
6. Very important: Within 30 seconds On your remote push the Lock button. (The lights on my vehicled cycled)
7. Go back and turn the key off and remove the key.
8. Close all your doors on your car and test your remote!
It's that simple! got to love it!
1996 camry vip s1000 alarm info
It appears that I have a factory alarm, it is located under the drivers seat. The manuals that came with the car says it is a VIP S1000, looking at the photo in the manual it looks like a VIP S1000 as pictured. In my searching for this alarm system how come I can't find any information about it. I called the original owners of the car and they said it had an alarm in it when they bought it brand new from the dealer. It had two remotes that were egg shaped and black in colo,r with two buttons. Over the years the kids lost the remotes and so they lived without them. I would like to get new remotes for it but it's hard to find any information about the Toyota VIP S1000 alarm system. Also the booklet says that there is a reset button that I need to push to program the remotes. I do not see a button anywhere located on the black box under the seat! Any way is there somebody out there that truly knows any information on this alarm system. I went to the toyota dealership and they were kind of lost. They had my Vin number but it did not show an alarm on the car. Sorry for the long notes but just a little frustrated on finding info out on this alarm system. Thanks and have a good day!
