car doesnt shift into overdrive

My wife loaned her 94 Camry to a friend and now it won't shift down into overdrive. I looked under the hood and the throttle cable looks like this.

would this be related to the problem? Does anone have a picture of how the lower cable should look so I can refer to it when I put it back together? Thanks in advance for all replies!

For one, the cable is not attached to the bracket.
2, the cable looked stretched unless it is because it's hanging and not attached.
It could be related to the problem.

I don't think the friend would go under the hood? No?

Did you check the OD on/off switch? The OD light may have burned out? What's the coolant temperature reading?

Can you take a clearer picture of the cables? Why does the throttle linkage (lower one) look crooked?
