4th Generation Ultra Racing Strut Bar on a V6

Hi guys
Does any one have experience with a Ultra Racing Strut Bar on a 1997 V6? UR's website and the Ebay seller didn't restrict this bar to a I4 Camry only. The problem I'm having is that it seems like.. something on the top of the throttle body is hitting the strut bar when I go in reverse only on a incline, but on a flat surface it's ok. I added washers to raise up the strut bar, and the noise seems to have gone away, but I'm not sure if that's ok. Another thing is am I supposed to remove the suspension support when installing the strut bar?

Thanks
Kandasan

Strut bars are direct installation. Just unscrew the bolts that are holding the mounts in, and place the bar on those points and screw it back in. I wouldn't recommend putting washers in because it diminishes the stability of the strut bar's purpose. What's hitting it exactly, because strut bars are made to fit for that car, wouldn't matter much what engine displacement it is. Can you take a picture so that we can help you out a bit more?

Are your motor mounts bad? if so, that could be why the motor is hitting the bar.
thats my thought...

- Xspeed here are the picture it looks like it could be the idle air valve. But without the washers the bar sits really close

-Swagger not sure about motors mounts I'll have to check that next

I can tell you what its hitting, its hitting the top of the bracket that holds the throttle cable. I'll take a pic in a few mins ( have washers too, but I'll take a pic of where it hits)

That is the EGR position sensor. Was the black residue on there before you installed the bar?

oh the black residue is paint, because whatever hit the strut bar, could be the EGR Sensor, hit it hard enough to chip paint. So i wanted to cover it up just to avoid rust

You can probably shave of a couple mm off the top of the sensor. I have a spare one so I'll see if that would affect the sensor.

What is this suspension support you're talking about? Are you talking about the bolts that are holding the mounts in place?

No, just un-bolt the 2 nuts on each strut mount, don't jack up the car, make sure its on the ground, on its on weight.

No, you don't need to take it out. I'd keep it on.

So I guess an update to this thread I guess I'm gonna need new motor mounts.

I lifted the strut bar up with washers and it seems to have gone away, but under even harder load you can hear taps.

This is the right side

this is the left side
