i have looked around and can't find a definite answer i have a 1998 camry LE and the bottom end went in it i have found both a 1996 full moter and a 1992 remanned block for cheap will they interchange with the 98 5sfe head? and distributer-less setup
thank you very much a definitive answer thats exactly what i needed
Theres a difference in the Bore size. All of the electronics that are currently installed on the vehicle are what make it run though. As long as you simply just swap the block out, you'll be ok. Make sure to replace the head bolts. They stretch when you first torque them and will possibly snap into the block if you try to re-use them.

i'll be ordering a rebuild kit thanks for the info, will much have to be modified on the block for the 97-01 setup or just basically hook the 96 block to my 98 head and use all the accessories and bracketry from my gen4 engine i currently have in the car

Nothing. Just swap all the 97-01 parts onto the 96 block and you'll be good to go
92-96 blocks are the same. The 92 block has very thin layer where the coolant passeges run against the cylinder walls though. I'de go for the newer 96 block if I were you.
