3rd Generation Anyone with experience doing audio work on the 3rd gen w/ factory amp

I have a 1994 camry coupe w/ the tweeter/amp system. What i want to do is replace the factory head unit (tape, cd radio, double DIN) with a new double din unit, as well as add a single sub w/ amp.

From what i've read on here and other forums i have a single connecter in the back of the head unit vs. 2 for the non-amp system. So i need the single wiring harness adapter which i cant seem to find online. Crutchfield brings up parts for the non-amp stock system, not the one i have.

Does anyone have a link where i can buy the right harness adapter? And any other parts i might need for this?

Thanks.

You should have two connectors that plug into a harness that run to the amplifier, disconnect those, and use that to connect to your new system. In other words, get the adapter harness for the Camry's with the stereo/built in amp. I hope that makes sense.

Ah thanks. I took another look at this pdf after your reply: http://www.installdr.com/installdocs...PDF/869013.asp

So basically both systems have the 2 plugs, just the one for the amp system connects into one in the back of the stock radio. Therefore the regular wiring harness adapter should work fine.

Yes you got it. At least all the ones I've seen were that way. You can easily verify this, to the right of the head unit you should see the harness and the two connectors.
