3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
honestly this might seem kind of dumb, but I could've sworn I've seen a few 94 Camry's with modded Skyline brake lights. not entirely modded to the point where they were exactly like the Skyline brake lights, but close enough.
I've browsed all of CarDomain and nothing.
and I can't seem to find anything here, so was it just me imagining something or does anyone know what type of brake lights people might've used to get that Skyline brake lights look?
they couldve have painted the circles only. so left circles with just the colors and the resr body painted it, I Know thats how a few of the ricer cavaliers do it around here. also the 95 accord and 99 preludes i believe can get that style lights as an aftermarket purchase.
i was once shocked and confused when i saw the back of a honda prelude with the exact same style r34 skyline look in rear, body kit lights and all! I have never seen an r34 skyline up close ever thats why i was shocked and confused, also cause my neighborhood is usually all ricer and "SLABS" plus its not a rich neighborhood :P

yeah man
thats what I'm saying, I think it was more of a bulb mod so when on they looked like the brake lights of a Skyline, but I know I'm not crazy and I've seen it before.
I'm going to start body work on my car and then move on to the lights and such and don't want to get reg tail lights if i could find how to do the mod haha
and I've seen the mod brake lights on a few different cars, but I could've sworn I saw it on a Gen3 Camry...
get the circles in position or whatever,
Then open up the tailights
now you can make red "HALO's" or put SMT LED's in a circle
Leave a Bulb in the middle of the circle,
have the halo like 2 way powered, one for "high power" brake/ turn signal and one power source for just regular dim parking lights.
then seal em up.
you get the idea though i guess. lol I had thought about doing that for my 91 corolla a while back just for a custom look. :]

yeah i have a few drawn out plans for it.
thinking of blacking out the corner then doing a halo brake light and finding tail light covers similar to the R34 and then the trunk piece either switching from the one with the lights in them to the solid one or restore the trunk piece and match it to the brake light...if that makes sense...
If you really want to put R34 taillights in there, you need to purchase the rear clip and rear tallights with the pigtails attached. Cut out the light buckets that hold the lights on the rear clip, cut out your rear light buckets so that the R34 buckets will fit, place them in the rear, weld them in place. Mock up the taillights .. Grind, modify, bondo, until they are flush and look good. Tape off the rear of the car and color match it to match the original paint again and then install the taillights.
Remove your rear light harnesses, and Splice the R34 taillight harnesses into the camry harness.
