3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I've replaced the wiper motor on my 98 Camry (55,000 miles) and now the blades park in the middle of the windshield.
Apparently I should have noticed how the linkage was lined up before taking the motor off.
How do I go about aligning the blades?
My guess is I detach the linkage from the motor and move the linkage until the blades are in the park position? Then attach them to the motor, but I'm guessing here. Would appreciate advice.
Dose the wipers perform a full cycle across the windshield normally and the only problem is that the wiper is not parking correctly? If so, I would detach the linkage from the motor, cycle the motor a few times and let it stop in its park position, and reattach the linkage with the wipers in the correct park position. Track the direction that the motor turns to make sure that the wipers won't travel beyond its swipe area and cause damage.
Hi All,
I am driving a Toyota Camry 2001 LE and guess the wipers have got old and it keep giving the squeaky sound.Maybe time to replace. Can someone suggest me the brand for the wiper that i can replace with.I tried googling and it just left me more confused.I want the price to be economical too.Any suggesstions would be of great help!
^ Not to highjack the thread but to answer your question. There's dozens of wipers brand out there and everyone have their own opinion. Do you want the conventional wipers or the newer flat blades? How much is cheap? Some just buy the cheapest set at Walmart and replace it twice a year while others buy the higher-end wipers online and last them 2 years. It really personal preference. More me; I find the conventional OEM wipers from Nissan works very well and last aleast a year. Also the paint don't fade in the Texas sun like other brand do. But for sure, it's "you get what you paid for". You can search for old threads for more opinions.
Back to the OP; I believe some wiper motor have a park sensor that have to be clocked/mounted correctly for the blade to stop at the right time. But not too sure about the Camry motor thou.
Hi Thank you so much for the input. However the budget i m looking to afford is $15-20.but i need a performance one, since i live in Michigan, last year we had several snow storms,I need a one that would sustain such stuffs.Oh well i dont mind the price. But the top priority is quality. So can someone tell me the quality one for my 2001 Camry
Please start a different thread when you're not following the original question. It's confusing and changes the focus of a question important to me.
Now, I spent several hours under the hood today. At first the blades only moved slightly (1.2 inch or so). I took the linkage off and moved it 180 degrees and that helped get a complete cycle, but they stopped in the middle of the windshield. Finally, I found some comments about setting up a tab. Not finding a 'tab' I followed the instructions using a part of the linkage (it's about 2.5 inches long). Adjusting it a few times the blades are parked where they should be. It still moves them a 1/4 inch or so when parking, but it works for me.
Now, all I have to do is get some replacement pieces of the plastic that holds the weather stripping in place along the cowl.
Thanks for the response.
Tom C
PS I'm responding hoping someone else with the problem will find it helpful.
You could say that i was a new user and didnt know all about starting a new thread or a new discussion with similar titles.I am just in the process of learning about this forum.Just kinda felt you were rude.I didnt mean to bump in and you could say that.I dont see a reason for you to be confused where you could totally make it out that someone posted here by mistake.SORRY!..
Sorry you found my comment rude, but having searched forums a number of years I find it very confusing when a thread diverges and is unfocused. I'm not sure how best to convey that message, I tried to do so simply and clearly - that's all.
Hope you understand.
My own search for information is to search google or some engine and search those links. For this issue I had spend several hours but without a good response. So, I began a separate thread, something that is pretty easy to do.
