Hi,
My secondary car is Toyota Camry 2001 and needs the wiper blades to be Changed. Now living in Michigan and being subjected to heavy snow during winter,Can i request someone to suggest me the brand name of the wiper blades that i can change with and also how to install them in my car.Any lights to it is highly appreciated. Thanks in Advance
So far I liked only Trico Neoform wiper blades, but they tend to go bad after Winter (especially if your car is parked outside like mine) or after 6-7 months of use.
Rain-X Latitude are junk, they can jump on the windshield whenever they like and are not silent quiet, never were.
You can try Bosch Icon, I haven't yet, will give them a try after Winter.
from other brands I tried Duralast something and Rain-X weatherbeaters, both are junk.

I actually like Anco Winter Blades. I really don't think any wiper blade will last after the winters up north so changing them in the spring has always been pretty normal for me. I like Anco AeroVantage for the clear months,....they seem to last just fine till the winter comes again,..and they work much better on the highway in higher speeds.
Directions on how to put them on are on the back of the package.
I get them cheap at Rockauto.com I buy them all at one time,...usually with other things I need.
I prefer Toyota inserts which are cheaper and better , MHO. Just slide the wiper refill out remove metal insets, reinstall in new refill then re inset in wiper arm.

Bosch Icon is a "beam blade" (flat) design. Expensive but works. Walmart used to carry the Pylon like $3 a piece. Those were fine in Calif. Or check out the Michelins at Walmart. your local Costco may have the GoodYear beam blade for about $7-8 each on sale.
If OEM refills are cheaper then go with them. Can't say they hold up any better than el cheapo blades. Many OEM refills look like they've been sitting on the shelves for years, with the clear plastic packaging already turned yellow.
I haven't used Rain-X blades but like their windshield cleaner fluid.
The Duralast don't stay on the windshield above 70ish, they start jumping a bit, and it gets worse the faster you get. Also they aren't that great with heavy rain.

I guess they are similar design to seamless (?) beam Trico Neoform or Rain-X Latitudes?
Do you like them? are they silent?
I liked Neoforms very much, dead silent even on dry glass, zero streaks when wet, no problems at high speeds, always evenly pressed to glass, felt like luxury car wiper blades.
can't say that about ANY other brand/model I tried so far as most are squeaking, streaking and jumping all over.
even Rain-X Latitude were worse than Neoforms. They were unevenly pressed to glass on my car leaving streaks from day one, they weren't dead silent on dry glass and what's worse the arm looks like shit with exposed clip (Neoforms are covered). after a week they started jumping a little, big thumbs down for the price.

I use WW fluid, so even if there is a streak... it disappears..
I have used them in the rain... and no streaking... just when I shoot them clean in the a.m. sometimes.
Yes they are silent...

The Following User Says Thank You to zb420 For This Useful Post:
I've had a number of different blades over the years, including the one-piece Bosch'es, whatever they're called.
My conclusion: they all last about the same. 6 month is the recommended change interval, and they don't really last longer than a year, no matter the brand.
As of now, I got the Goodyear wipers that Costco carries - $8.99+tax apiece. They work just as well as the Bosches (same design, and I doubt there's any difference), and I couldn't be happier at that price.
A friend of mine busted out $30+ for a pair of Rain-X wipers for his '02 ES300, and they died after a season, just like any other wiper.
If the car is garaged at home and at work then the wipers can last years. If the car is parked out in the sun during the day then once a year they need to be changed.
I plan to pick up some Costco GoodYear beam blade types and see how they work. The Bosch ones are too expensive.
I've tried several aftermarket units, I prefer OE style parts. Look for the NWB brand if you have a pre 1992 Toyota, Denso makes wiper blades for 1992+ Camry's. Valeo makes a really good wiper blade (Amazon.com has these). ........edit --- Looked it up, NWB does make units for the generation 3 Camry, they are the same as what you would get at the dealer but cheaper. Note that North American produced may have different parts versus Japan made.

hey hey hey not all Bosch parts suck hehe, especially not those used on VV12 engines in Audi and BMW
anyways, yeah, generally Bosch parts don't like to go along together with Nippon cars (not only Nippon made, but generally ...)
well nevertheless I'm running on Bosch Distance Plus filter on my V6 now, so far it's good, engine is smooth and very quiet at all times, so I reckon the filter works and likes the Euro M1 0W-40 formula flowing through it
I didn't like the Bosch WP on 5s-fe though, it started dying after merely 1.5yrs (looked like crap after removal), but there could have been more reasons to it like I topped off coolant once with wrong type, the engine back then was running lean (hotter), lower TB cover was damaged leaving the WP pulley exposed to elements and such ...
anyways, I don't mind spending a little more on wiper blades (on promo I buy the expensive ones, $15-30 is max I pay for a pair) if they are silent and leave no streaks
I wish I had Costco membership card for those oil deals and wiper blades ... will check rockauto & amazon for some wiper blades next time, though it sounds ridiculous to have them shipped...

Bosch parts suck, all of them.

Not all Bosch parts are crap, I might have exaggerated a tad. But for the more critical mechanical parts, I have seen so many Bosch parts fail it's not even funny, I won't touch them.
