3VZ V6 has oil droplets in the distributor cap

I replaced my Cam's plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and coil last Saturday. It was running fine, just replacing 'em because they're about due, with 80k miles on them. The coil I replaced because the last time I cleaned my battery terminals and hosed it down in that area, it wouldn't start until it dried out. I figured the coil might have a small crack, so I just replaced it.

I noticed little droplets on the inside of the cap (see pic), which I thought were water at first. Looking more closely, and smearing it with my finger, I can tell it's oil. There really wasn't any puddling elsewhere in the dizzy that I could see.

Questions:

1) Does this distributor have an o-ring on the rotor shaft? If yes, can it be replaced?... or would I have to replace the whole dizzy? The online parts catalogs have zero help here.

2) Seeing's how the oil is in tiny little droplets, I'm not sure it's an oil leak, per se. Could it be oil vapor that got in there and condensed? I've never seen or heard of that. The PCV valve is in working order, BTW.

I searched but couldn't find any threads about this for the 3VZ V6. Lots of 'em for the I4, which has a distributor with an o-ring on the rotor that can be replaced.

the distributor does have an o-ring that's able to be replaced. if the o-ring were bad, i'd think you'd see more of an oil leak on the top of the trans. oil would drip off of the distributor body and onto the trans. i can't see oil firing itself onto the underside of the cap. i would think more than likely its just grease that's being thrown from the dristributor but without seeing the distrubutor its hard to tell.

Thx for the reply. Are you talking about the big fat o-ring that goes on the base of the dizzy?... sealing it where it inserts into the head? I replaced that one a while back to fix the oil leaking you mention.

Hmmm... doing some digging, and found this kit at www.kbox.com for the 3VZ-FE which includes an "internal shaft seal". And this thread, showing how to disassemble/rebuild the 5S-FE dizzy. How hard could it be? Anyone ever do it?

Edit: added pic from kbox of kit contents
