My '93 Camry (just purchased) is in need of 4 new tires. As I started shopping around I got to thinking that this would also be a good time to look into a wheel/rim upgrade. So, I was hoping that you all might be willing to give me some suggestions as to what size and style would be a good fit for this car.
In the interest of keeping the price of the wheels low, I figured it would be best to find OEM wheels from the same or a later genaration Camry.
This car is my daily driver and spends about 50% of a 20 mile commute in traffic. Handling is not a huge concern so I will not be spending a lot on the new tires (probably get them from Walmart). Acceleration is not a priority either, so I think I can afford to tax the little 2.2 with a slightly larger diameter. My primary goal here is simply to update the look.
Currently, the car is riding on a set of 4 mis-matched 195/70R14 tires mounted on the factory steel wheels. The research I have done so far has revealed the V6 Gen-3 model came stock with 205/65R15 on either steel or aluminum wheels, so I know that is one option. I have also looked at later model Camry's and I think a set of 16" wheels from those would work as well (although this would most likely put me in a 205/55R16 tire which might be more than I want to spend).
From what I have seen so far, I think an aluminum 5-spoke like these from an '05 Solara would look descent on the car. These are 16".
BTW, here is what I have to work with...
So, with the above in mind, do you all have any suggestions for tire size and inexpensive wheels/rims?
Thanks.
