Cali celica 5sfe into fed camry 4thgen

Well, my names zeke and I'm into extreme modifications, I have a shoehorned 1g eclipse thats full rwd with 400hp, and have done many swaps from car to car that most people dont think of, including mixing blocks and heads from different engines.
And this is my girlfriends birthday present in 3 weeks.
[IMG][/IMG]
300$ automatic 4cly camry with the most BIZARRE engine failure I've ever seen.
The PVC valve failed, stuck open, it then proceeded to fill the entire plastic intake full of oil, Completely full, leaving the crankcase almost empty of fluid, then, while he was merging on the highway runner 3&4 sucked oil, hydrolocked, and threw both rods out of the side of the block. total failure of any parts on the engine.
and this is my gfs camry after the first strip down of work.

i am to lazy to go outside and take more pictures of what it currently looks like, bit it has no wiring harness or aux's and intake and exhaust has been removed totally.

so, if this was a normal car, i would go to the junkyard, pull the biggest engine i could find that would fit on 2/3 of the mounts, make it work, and start it up, but this being my girlfriends car, who doesnt know what oil even is, or care for that matter, I called around to find some OEM engines.
2000$? i laughed and told him no, 1600$? i just hung up, 1350$? i was starting to have a sense of fear. and lastly 1400$.
i didnt understand why this engine was so valuable, when i could grab an EVO8 engine for 700$. but i did what anybody does, i posted on facebook about it. 30 minutes later, i get a phone call, my friend has a celica with a rusted out body, 103k on the clock cali emissions, and he doesn't know if it will fit. well, it was a 4 cylinder toyota which was close enough for me. 500$ for the engine, i jumped on it. drove 14 hours round trip to grab it.

then i started the tear down of the spare engine to see what we were cooking with.

I pulled the exhaust off first, the MASSIVE cali spec manifold went into the trash after i pulled out the wideband(cant ever have enough widebands in my parts bin) and sold the catilic to a junkyard for some $$$.
Imagine my surprise when i see this!
[IMG][/IMG]
an oil cooler? hot dog. not really of use on a DD camry driven by a girl, but it would help oil life so i test fit the Fed headers
[IMG][/IMG]
SOOOO much clearance, more than the cali spec! so the oil cooler stayed in place and would be the first to stay on my hybrid califed camry.
Then i started to notice some differences between the motor, such as the composite plastic thermostat housing for reasons i dont know, but kept it for weight reduction.

then i moved to the back the first thing i knew was, the throttle had to go in the bin. it would not work correctly with my fed ecu according to many threads on here. so it left the garage. I started to take measurements and take in the manifolds shapes and lengths. The runners were longer, the plenum had more smoothness to it. but, it had a 4 bolt TB and i needed a 3 bolt.
for now the stock intake will be used, but i am keeping this celica intake, i may weld the holes shut and drill and tap 3 new holes and use it with the camry throttle, just to see if i can get more torks out of it.
[IMG][/IMG]
and now the part where i have questions that if anybody knows the answer it will help me greatly.
these injectors, the cali uses air assist and the fed does not, the fed injectors will not fit in the cali DI holes, so i am at an impass.
[IMG][/IMG]
do i rebuild the federal head and swap heads totally, or do i somehow make the air assist work, which i have no idea how i am supposed to do that. This is my first toyota in my life ive touched so this technology is new to me.

any opinions will be LOVED! thanks for looking everybody. i will probably update this thread 2 or 3 times a day. so ill try to respond back fast.

thanks! Zeke.

You might wanna see if the engine sits properly on the stock motor mounts of a camry. it can be the same motor but the motor mount might be different.

today i test fit the front and rear mounts and swapped the oil dipsticks. fitment looks good and it appears to have all the bolt holes that the fed camry engine had. so hopefully it should fall right into place. if not i will go down that road later when we cant get the car alignment right because of massive caster out of spec.

also, as i was undoing the front mount one of the transmission support brackets fell off, it wasent bolted to the trans, revealing that..the trans is not the original one, ran the vin and its out of an 00 camry. so one more part not to even worry about. i had guessed that it was a junkyard tranny when i saw some junkyard pen on the starter mount but i thought it was my imagination, totally confirmed now.

well, research has revealed that the stock federal(dark green) has 30 less CC than the air assisted cali counterparts, so i guess ill be bypassing the air assist and fitting the federal injectors in it if possible. if not ill weld on the wideband bung and hook up an apexi tuner.
