Wipers: $8 Anco, $11 Rain-x/Bosch, or $20 Rain-X Latitude?

I want decent stuff, but never want to pay a dime more than I need to. The top of the line is ever justified, in terms of being TWICE as good, for example. Today, I opted for the $11 Rain-X. Was this the right choice?

The cheapest is probably still the dealer inserts with coupon.

However, Bosch Icon beam type (flat) seems fine. I need to check out the Costco $8 beam type on sale. Check them out if you have Costco membership before the end of the month? Walmart used to carry those $3 ones but no longer. Those were the best . Oh well.

The $11 Rain-X Weatherbeaters work fantastic in my car, silent and wipe clean every time. Mine are about a 1.5 years old.

Rain-X weatherbeater wipers are good. I have them on my Camry and I have tried Anco, Trico previously.

I haven't found a wiper blade brand that can last more than a few month before skipping or streaking. The Texas heat kills rubber and makes them hard and brittle. Only the OEM wipers on my sister's Versa still works perfectly for nearly a year.

Hmmm, never have had a problem with wipers drying out. My old van sat for 2 years outside before I started driving it and the wipers still worked pretty well. Try the weatherbeaters.

I think the problem is that most of the wipers I got that failed early were $5 or less (you get what you paid for.) When you mention van, I remember that my dad's Quest minivan has some Weatherbeaters that I pick out of an Autozone trashcan over a year ago. (Didn't what to spend money on a '95) I just when outsude to test them and they out preformed the 2 month old Plyons on my Camry. Guess I'll grab a pair tomorrow, new ones. Any different between the Rain-X at Walmart and Autozone/Oreillys?

same here. the longest they served me was like 1 year, but that includes some streaking due to rubber deterioration or uneven blade pressure (loose blade) already at the end.

the worst wipers in terms of jumping were the Duralast, which were doing it like crazy (on a Buick, my former ride) even when new.

I don't like Rain-X weatherbeaters either, very uneven pressure on windshield, streaking, occasional jumping when not wet enough, noisy and ugly looks

So far I liked Trico Neoform the best, but had to replace them after 7 months regardless (after last Winter). very silent even on a dry glass, no streaking, no jumping ever, very smooth. good to buy on promo only (e.g. 33% off or buy 1 get 1)

Now running Rain-X Latitudes and I don't like their looks (exposed clip) and also those things jump sometimes. they do the job however, but aren't so good on a dry glass (e.g. light misty weather and non-intermittent speed setting).

Next time I will give a shot to Bosch Icon and see.

I usually buy blades only on promotions, whatever I can get cheaper when time comes, there is always some promotion somewhere

I had ANCO Contour before (similar to the Rain-X Latitudes) but the problem was that it won't wipe the area right below the center clip after a month of use; leaving two wide streak in the center. My problem with most wiper blades is that the paint would flake off or fade to an ugly grey ash color. The paint on the Weatherbeaters would blister while others faded. So far, only the Anco AeroVantage (not the 33-series plastic crap version) and OEM Nissan wipers has the best paint.

I know I'm over analyzing wiper blades but the Gen 4 wipers sit in view of the driver. Finding ones that last long and looks good just means more money. (Unless they are on promotions like you said but I never have luck with mail-in rebates)

I'm bored and trying to come up with a thesis statement for an essay so I filmed the wipers in action. The wipers only make noise when the windshield is dry like in the video.

Not that I know of, I actually got mine from Walmart.

I tried the Goodyear blades Costco had on sale for 2/$5.00 on the 07 and they are absolute crap, streaking on the first use. The oem style wipers is what I like, they don't stick out. The newer frameless wiper blades look odd on our older cars. The weatherbeaters are in great shape, no paint fading and no skipping or excessive streaking for their age.
