Re: 2001 Camry LE passenger side mirror

Mom ran over something that flew back and broke the pass. side mirror.

I don't think you can replace just the mirror can you?
Whole new assembly is what I am thinking?

Then dealing w/ painting it.

If this was a rock, the question is would her Comprehensive on her Car Insur. cover this?

yea u can just replace the mirror part of the assembly.

u can try to see if you can find just the mirror to purchase. if not, then it'll prolly be cheaper just to get the mirror assembly (online somewhere) then just the mirror itself from the dealership.

or you can get it from the junkyard.

not sure about insurance

Shouldn't be terribly hard to find a used one. www.car-part.com is a source. Duplicolor should have a close match on the paint...

I'm thinking it's going to be cheaper to buy the mirror form Toyota and have the body shop put it in for her.

This will eliminate painting the new assembly etc.
This body shop likes my mom but still.. they need to be compensated for their work.

if the plastic plate under the mirror glass is still in good shape, chip out all of the remaining glass and buy the mirror glass from a local auto parts store. they sell generic pre-cut mirror glass in various sizes and shapes. it wont be an exact fit, but it also wont be expensive.
