another Radiator question

Sorry, could not find this info...

94 LE v6 170K: has very slight rad leak(almost nothing), overdue for a fluid change and never had a thermostat or hoses...got everything and looked at my NPA radiator..supposed to be a Modine, it's a Spectra. Was about to use it anyway when I looked at the AT cooler fittings, they are brass but screw onto some real cheesy looking plastic nubs on the lower tank.

Questions:

1) Anyone have any trouble with these fittings leaking or breaking?

2) Koyo's look-(pictures)-like they have metal fittings embedded in the lower tank for the AT pipes to screw into...Is that so and any issues with those?

I'll take this spectra back if the Koyos have a better set up.

Thanks,
D

I have 96 Camry I4 w/ 200k miles, right now. I can comment on Spectra that I bought from NAPA. Yes, the top radiator and bottom came w/ plastic. Have to say, cheap plastic, but this day company tries made products that don't last forever.

Why I went for Spectra radiator? NAPA has a lifetime Warranty as long you save your received. The 1st Spectra Radiator I bought from NAPA, two years later, the transmission leaks on the bottom brass hose of the radiator. I returned to NAPA, and I received a new one at no COST. now, I still have the 2nd Spectra Radiator, and the transmission leaks went away. If you decide go for Spectra Radiator, reuse all your OEM old FANS screws, nuts, washer, A/T brass hose, and radiator CAP. I just like the OEM old parts. the problem you have to remove the old radiator.

Sorry, I have not use TOKOYO radiator, so I can't comment. Maybe someone can comments...

Its just a fact that most aftermarket stuff is junk, If you are going to keep the car for a while go with OEM ( new or junkyard) and if you can't find that, go with Toyota from an online parts dealer.
