4th Generation Abs DIY repair

I have a 2000 V-6 5 speed. The drivers side rear brake doesn't seem to work. There is rust on the disk. I am wondering if there is anything I can do to troubleshoot the ABS system. I can't find any info on this in the Haynes manual or on this forum. If you have any info on this I would appreciate the help.

if the disc surface is rusty where the brake pads should make contact you could have a frozen caliper piston or a caliper slider that's stuck. the only option is to pull the caliper off and inspect it and the slider pin for rust and wear. if you replace one caliper, i reccomend replacing the other caliper, the pads, and the rotors. do it all at once and save furure headaches.

The ABS sensor is just a magnetic pickup that picks up the signal from the hub Ring.

If your ABS light is on, take the brake assembly apart down to the ring/pickup and clean them with brake clean. That typically solves the problem.

If your brake isnt holding when you push the pedal, more than likely the post above is the problem

There is no problem with the caliper as I replaced the pads and inspected the caliper recently. I am concerned about the equalizer in the engine bay. I can't find any info on it.
