'94 Speaker Help

Hello All,

Both of my rear deck speakers are blown, I just purchased 2 new ones, but I have no clue how to replace the rear speakers. Do I have to take the seats out or something ? I can't figure it out

Help would be greatly appreciated

fold the seats down and pull the upper deck panel off. this will give you access to the bolts holding the speaker in and allow you to replace the speakers. you will need speaker adapters to do the job properly...though cutting off the speaker plug and soldering in a universal end will work fine as well.

to remove it, you need a 12MM and a 10MM socket / ratchet. remove the bottom seat (clipped in place), this will expose one 12mm bolt on both bottom side of the Seat cushion near the doors. Fold the rear seats to the down position. Once you remove the bolts, lift the side cushions up and out. Once removed, take off the 3rd brake light rear plastic exposing two 10mm bolts holding it in place. remove the two 10mm bolts and pull the brake light assembly out. Disconnect the harness and remove the light assembly. Now you can remove the rear deck cover and it will expose the rear deck speakers. Remove, replace, and re-install everything in reverse.

Yup, the rear deck has to come out. The speakers are mounted to the car underneath it. Mr. Perkin's description is good. For pictures, refer to this thread showing how to replace the rear struts. The first half dozen steps show how to remove the rear deck, which has to be done to replace rear struts.
