I've got the 3VZ in my Camry, and the 1MZ in my Avalon. The 3VZ makes better torque at low RPM. The 1MZ likes to be rev'd a bit more to make good power. But the difference isn't huge. My Avy gets better gas mileage by about 3 MPG. So I'd give the nod by a slim margin to the 1MZ.
