hey guys i upgraded from a 97 corolla to a 2001 camry LE 67k
not a major upgrade but i am already loving the car.
a couple of things i was asked to change
automatic transmission fluid is very dark needs to be changed
power steering fluid need to be changed
oilpan gasket is leaking(its making me worried)
any help would be appreciated
he also said that struts need to be replaced also but not now
and yeah the front tires needs to be replaced
the car is dirty
cabin and engine bay needs cleaning
i might not clean the engine bay since its getting cold and i dnt wana take risk with leaving water on the engine
i really wana swap the odometer lights with white and red leds
i saw a thread about the needles colors
but i am not sure about what size leds should i use.
The oil pan is a simple drop and this engine should use a gasket. Drain the oil, remove the pan, clean off old gasket, oil pan, and mounting surface of engine block, install new gasket with some RTV or Hondabond, reinstall it, and fill it up with fresh oil.
The gauge cluster uses 194 bulbs. Four or six of them I think.
i love the color of your car, i wish mine was black
anyways what foglights did u use?
i was planning to put hids in my fog, but thats for future
also what other mods have you done to your car?
about gasket
i don't want take risk with the gasket. ill just let my mechanic do it for me
also about the oil change what kind of oil is used in this car
i would put 5w-30 in my corolla
about oil, ive been using the mobile one oil for my corolla
but since i will be replacing transmission and powersteering fluid also
which one should i go with
i see alot of people use Royal purple
i wont mind paying extra for them but i dnt know how good they are?

Thanks. Black is nice color but a pain to keep clean. I spent 6 hours with the clay bar, buffing, and waxed my car over the weekend. Then it rain today....
The fog lamps I used was the "Driving Light Kit" from Walmart. I think it cost about $25 now. Autozone and Oreilly's carry similar product. It has a glass lens and metal case. The problem is that because they are mounted behind the bumper cover, it's not as bright. They are more like DRLs.
I also convert the rear drum brakes to discs which improved stopping. It's in the DIY section. But I spent most of my time fixing the Camry.
As for the oil, 5W-30 is fine as Perkins stated.I use Valvoline Maxlife but Mobil 1 is perfect. I haven't use Royal Purple so I can't speak for it. Just remember to use a good oil filter like Wix or Purolator.
does camry have transmission filter?
i asked my mechanic and he said camry doesnot have transmission filter
anyways i will be doing my power steering and transmission fluid flush tomorrow

Your Camry doesn't use a filter, just a metal screen.
hey i had my transmission, power steering and engine-oil flushed yesterday
now i was driving my car and i dint noticed the AC
like i turned my ac on. and the knob will only blow air when its on high(full)
on the first 3 levels it doesnt even blow it,
what could be wrong with this?
do i need a new AC control?

So the blower (fan) motor only runs on high?... none of the lower speeds work? That's probably the fan resistor pack. Here's a DIY showing how to fix it.
