just wondering if i would need camber bolts to keep the camber as little as possible
ok, is it just me, or does this appear to be a stock strut, ebay coilover threaded sleeve, and eibach coil over spring? if this is the case, what application would i have to go to find the correct diameter collar? ive been looking at lowering springs, cut coils, etc. going for low buck drop, with a spring rate increase for rallycross/autocross. this would fit the bill perfectly if im correct.
please tell me i am.....
car is a 99 camry. 4 cyl, stock at the moment. found some OBX coil overs on ebay for a mid 90's carolla that look as if they would fit the bill, but wanna know for certain before i soend the money.
That's the Ground Control setup, which isn't a "true" coilover system. I had put the same setup in my buddy's Gen1 Solara with Tokico blues and camber kit years ago. He has replaced the struts since then because they were leaking, but still using the GC setup. His car rides rough (on 18's too), but he likes them.
so, is there a cheap knockoff equivalent? the hardware is what i need from the ebay stuff, which is why i was looking at carolla. supposedly very similar. ill run coil over springs from afco or hyopercoil, since i have a lot left over from my old race car.
so, instead of carolla, look at accord? what year range?
again, im just planning on using the collars and hats, not the springs. usually the rates in the ebay kits are pretty abysmal for autocroos.
ill probably go with the OBX parts. looks to be my best quality for those parts.
the "ebay" ones are just fine. we take the corners hard with that suspension....oh and he is driving with a 15inch sub in the trunk and the car doesn't bottom out
as im about to order next week, what year range accord should i be looking at?
i thought i read somewhere that carolla stuff would work as well. any truth to that? year range?

michael
stock strut with ground control coilover sleeve and eibach linear spring
measure the diameter of your stock shock body and contact ground control to see if they have a sleeve for a body of that diameter.
it will fit the bill perfectly. its cheap with a spring rate increase. EXCEPT the stock damper WILL NOT !!! be able to support such an increase in spring rate.
i doubt the corolla coilovers will fit the camry. different hub mount ? top mount might be different ? shock length might be different ?

if you want the coilover sleeves, then go measure the shock body and call ground control and tell them you want sleeves that'll fit that body. but i REALLY wouldn't do this with stock dampers.
what do you mean the ratesy ebay kits are abysmal for autocross ? you can tell them what linear spring rates you want....

they have collars that fit the stock shocks. dunno why you keep mentioning the accord. just get the one for the camry.......... the one for the camry's stock shock
just to warn you tho. putting any spring rate stiffer than stock WILL make your handling performance HORRIBLE. this is because the stock damper does not have the ability to dampen such a high spring rate
edit: sorry i just read this thread again and i found out why you kept mentioning the accord. cause 2wikedtoys said he used the sleeves for the accord. but take a look at the link and u can find sleeves that'll fit over the stock shock.
i have ground control sleeves with the eibach linear springs that came with it on my tokico struts. so feel free to ask anymore questions that you may have. sorry if i seem like an ass. its really late right now but i will help you understand all that you need to know
