4th Generation Gen4 Fifth Gear parts required or info

Hi, My 99 model Gen4 manual jumps oput of 5th when I back off the throttle..
I have removed the 5th gear cluster, being the slider and the 'hub'..
the hub teeth are worn and the Tranny guy said I will need to replace it.. Another Tranny guy said I can just reverse the 'hub' and try my luck..
Reversing it I can see is possible but not ideal..

Has anyone any experience with this issue..
I am ok with DIY... the whole set-up was easy and quick to remove..

Am told new parts are very expensive.. so I thoiught to ask memebers on their opinion, Thanks.

Give Transtar a call and see if they can help with the parts. That should be a dual-cone synchro?

hehe was wondering where Shell Harbor was.

Anyway if you manage to get a new gear at reasonable cost, then might as well replace all the synchros while at it. You may have a similar transmission supply house that can get you the entire syncrho kit, for example. Good luck.

BTW, I see that Transtar does have international sales and contact desk, however, the downside is at a minimum order of $500, but 3 days to Sydney according to the list.
