please help..i am stuck removing the gas tank

I am kind of stuck removing the gas tank on my 2000 camry LE.

Exhaust is removed, brake lines are pulled to a side after removing the bracket. filler neck flex pipe is removed.
I need to the move an electrical connector to the canister. without it, I can only lower the tank may be 3-4 inches. The connector that i need to remove is shown in the picture. Any idea how to remove that POS connector? It looks like some kind of quick connector, but I tried pulling, squeezing, pinching but that sucker is stuck. I can't believe this. I was able to remove the exhaust in 2 min and i am ^%%$ stuck at this. Any help will be greatly appreciated

If I lower the tank with out removing this connection to the canister, will I be able to remove this wire and tube (one electrical and one tube, both goes to canister) from the top of the tank (i may only get 4-5 inches when dropping the tank)? Looks like this is the only thing that is connected to the tank now.

have you removed the lines/connectors on top of the tank under the back seat?

I agree that Japanese electrical connectors are very difficult to disconnect. I don't see any connector in your picture, just wires. You can try spraying with PB Blaster then dry the outside and try again. There are locking clips on those connectors that require a lot of pressure to release, sometimes I need to use needle nose pliers to get enough force to squeeze the connector enough to release the clips and age does stiffen the plastic making it more difficult. You may have to cut the wires and re-splice on reassembly.

I couldn't take the actual connector pic. This wire is going to the canister and that is what I want to remove.
