Gen 3:Key stuck in the ignition!

92 camry v6 3vzfe

My key is stuck in my ignition and will not allow me to make the complete revolution, i can push the key inwards but wont turn at all to the left after "acc" because the key is in the ignition i cannot lock my doors however when i disconnect the battery my key is freed.

i checked the fuses inside and nothing appears blown. is there something couldve melted in the wiring harness that would lock my key in the ignition?

it also has an oem security alarm in the center console. does it lock my key in as some safety precaution?

- i dont know what these may have done but these are the things i did while in my car while listen to music through the stereo for threeish hours.

I installed a new shift knob in my camry and i cut away plenty of material and metal shavings found there way into the nooks and crannies

found the hand e-brake underneath the center consol even though i have the foot pedal parking brake. not sure if this hardware was supposed to be there. but i tried to engage it but it wouldnt stay in position

maybe stripped wires from my overdrive may have shortened out something?

tl:dr- key stuck in ignition after being completely fine hours before. key is freed when battery is disconnected.

wtfm8

edit: to add my brake(main disc brakes brake, not parking brake is is extremely hard to press now feels likes its bottomed out.

Is it an auto or manual? "new shift knob" sounds like a 5-speed but I never know.

IF it an automatic, then the wiring to signal the ignition that the transmission is in park may have shorted or cut. It is a safety feature to force the driver to engage park to release the key. That's one possible cause if it's an auto.

The Key interlock solenoid is probably bad..

It should be located around the Left Kick Panel. If that isnt the problem, then either the ground is bad or the Shift Lock ECU isn't processing the Signal to the ign. switch

Most likely the interlock solenoid is sticking open, causing the key to stay in the ignition.

Have you tried turning the steering slightly left to right to see if that would release it? Don't know about the older models, but the newer models usually does that if the steering wheel is locked in place. I just turn it slightly to release the lock.
