Change running lights to blinkers and blinkers to brighter running lights?
Hey I was wondering if any of you have tried this. I want to rewire my lights so that the turn signals would be sort of orange fog lights/running lights, and my blinkers would now be my corner lamp running lights.
That way when I'm driving around I could have my headlights on as well as the orange signals underneath.
Is there some reason this wouldn't be a good idea? I have seen a lot of people that do it on tacomas.
You can do that, you just have to switch the wiring running from the bumper signal to the Corner light, and the wiring from the corner light to the bumper signal.
Only problem I can see is the blinker may blink really fast because its a smaller bulb.

I was planning on dremmeling out the corner light to fit a bigger blinker bulb. Would I have enough power running the bigger bulb for it to work fine?
I've done the blinker conversion already, still have to do the driving lights. They WILL blink faster just so you know (and people will tell you you have a blinker out, and then you get to bet money on it and etc... haha).

I was planning on putting a bigger bulb in to make the blinking speed normal and brighter. How hard was it to do the conversion? I know a good bit about rewiring, but I am more worried about how hard it is to get to the wires. Are there any clear turn signals that I could put in instead of the orange ones so I would have clear running lights?
I had the bumper off when I was working on it, so the wires we're all pretty easy to get to. But I doubt that it would be too difficult to get to them without doing that. This may not be the most helpful, but all i did was splice the wires coming out of the lens and re connect it with the other harness. The car has no idea that the power is going a different place than stock. My left blinker bulb went out yesterday, so when I get a new bulb I'll try to snap some pictures of the wiring.

Thanks for the response, would you recommend that I just take my bumper off to do it? Or would that be more work that needed?
If you take the bumper off, (and plan to do that again in the future) may I suggest to re-install it with zip-ties. Bluemeanie gave me the idea, and it made everything so much easier. I had my new bumper on my car in maybe 15 minutes (not counting the lip).

To be honest, I've never needed to take the bumper off. Do you just put the zip-ties everywhere it is bolted on?
Yup. My train of thought is my bumper is going to come off a few more times for paint and suspension work. Plus once I'm hella low I can pop off the bumper in an emergency situation if i can't get over something and throw it in the car! Haha.
But really it's just to make it easier to work on. This is the third time it's been off, and I didn't feel like fighting rusty brackets and bolts each time.
Other than the on the Lip (which is going to get put on correctly. It was getting dark and I needed to get it on the car) can you tell that it's only Zip-Ties holding the bumper to the car?

Food for thought anyway...
Very interesting. Where did you get the clear turn signals? Those look great. They would be all that much better to turn into running lights that the orange ones on now also.
Honestly, I found the corner and bumper lights on eBay. I can't remember how much they were (I bought them last spring...) but I remember thinking that I was surprised on how cheap they were.
My plan for my front end lighting (I think) is similar to yours:
