'97 Camry interior dome light question

I have a '97 Camry LE; unbeknownst to me, the previous owner had installed one of those annoying aftermarket alarm/remote starters units and lost the remote. I had owned the car for almost six months when the power door locks started locking and unlocking while I was driving down the freeway. I looked under the driver's side of the dash and found the offending unit and proceeded to undo all the connections.

Thirty minutes later, I had the alarm/remote starter unit removed. That fixed the power door locks from locking and unlocking, but now I have no dome light. It has power because you can still turn it on by the switch. Also, the door ajar light on the dash comes on when a door is opened, but not the dome light. You guys have any ideas??

Thanks in advance.

Frank

Do you have voltage at the door switch?

open the door, pull the rubber grommet off, loosen the 10mm bolt and test it for voltage.

The wiring runs directly from the integration relay to the door switch, so if you dont have voltage, the guy probably spliced into that wiring at the integration relay box and when you disconnected the remote starter it probably disconnected the wiring to the switch.

Does the light come on when you open any other doors?

Thanks for the reply, Mr. Perkins; as to your question, no, the dome light does not come on at all when any of the doors are opened, but as I said earlier, the door ajar light on the dash comes on when any of the doors are opened.
