98 Camry white plastic tank drivers side

So, my GF had a collision in her 98 Camry 4cyl and I had a frame shop pull the rails straight. After I installed new hood, front bumper, lights, etc. I found this white plastic tank in the trunk. The shop took it off while welding rad support in and didn't mention it nor did I think about it while doing the other work. It apparently goes behind the bumper cover on the drivers side of the car. So, I'll need to pull the bumper cover back off to reinstall it. But, I can't find any info about what it is anywhere. Tank appears to have 3 tiny holes in the bottom. If anyone could shed some light on what it is, what it does, and any hints about reinstallation, I'd very much appreciate it! Thanks!

The white "milk jug" looking plastic tank is an air intake resonator for the intake. All it does is to decrease the intake noise. The engine will not be harm if it is removed. I actually took mine off to make room for larger horns and it didn't affect performance in anyway. If you stand there and listen real hard, you can hear a bit more ait noise from the intake. But you’ll never notice it because it is drown out by the road, wind noise, engine, and radio.

This link will shine some more light on the subject.

Yuko... thanks very much for the quick info! I figured it had something to do with the intake but, if it's just a noise reducer, I'm going to live with it not being there ;-) Not worth disassembling everything for that. Just didn't know if it might have something to do with vacuum, etc. as the car is also not idling well but that's another issue I'll need to delve into.

Thanks again!
