So far the only people who have been able to plug into and read the trouble codes on my 94 Camry v6 is the dealer. In another stste, a shop told me they could do it but wanted 150.00 PLUS PARTS! I walked away laughing. Here in NC no one in a regular shop, nor the mobile mechanic, can hook up. What do I do? People say they can hook up to a 96 or newer but not older.

there is an OBDII Plug behind the coin box on the drivers side.

Are they trying to connect here?

94 Camry V6 was the first year that OBDII was implamented in the Camry

As far as I have seen so far, the other guys try that port behind the coin box. The dealer used another one somewhere else because I keep that coin box glue shut with RTV because the latch is broken and the dealer did NOT open it.

Well the reason the dealer could connect to it is because even though it IS OBDII, the plug is not exactly the same. You need a SAE J1978 Connector and interface to work with their OBDII Scan tools.

If they have a Genesis Evolution Scan Tool with the OBD1/2 hookups there should be a SAE J1978 Connector in their box of connectors.
