I got a 99 camry 4cyl auto california emission sedan that spun a rod berring I picked up a federal emissioned engine cheap everything is matching up im planing to try to keep it dual cats same pcm but am dealing with the iacv port going to what would be to the air assist port on a cali head but the federal head doesnt have the port my question is would it be possible to make it work by eliminating the cali iacv and replace it with a federal one? am going to install engine very soon but cant find any threads about making a federal 2.2 5sfe work in california car thanks for any advice

fuel injectors (and grommets+rings) are also different on federal engine vs calif.

as you noticed the IAC valve is different (no Air Assist on federal specs), but also the Throttle Body is, not to mention that air assist port on the back of engine head which was there for calif specs only (you will have a bolt plug on federal specs).

other different thing is the upstream oxygen sensor (federal) which will not work with Calif specs ECU expecting the Air Fuel Ratio sensor in there, most likely you won't even be able to plug it in to existing calif wiring harness.
