Cannister problem?

Any knowledgeable help appreciated. I've got a 1998 Camry V-6. Just had a rear main oil seal replaced and after picking up the vehicle have another problem. Strong gasoline odor coming from under the vehicle below the charcoal cannister. There is no check engine light which might rule out the purge valve or other components. Nothing is wet with fuel or stained. Hoses look good. Could the dealer have cracked the cannister when replacing the seal? Would a cracked cannister show up with a check engine light?

If it is just right after they replaced the rear seal, than it might take a day or two for an OBDII codes to come up. They might have nick or cut an EVAP hose that runs from the canister to the engine intake. (That hose carries gasoline vapor form the tank to burn it)
