Camry Gen 3 compatability quest.

hello and happy holidays.

Question:

I own a 1992 (gen 3) toyota camry le, I had a run in with a highway barrier after some black ice, the front bumper cover and bumper, supports, grill and some other parts were messed up pretty good, car tracks straight ect.

I guess my question is I see the years gen 3 covered were 1992-1996 am I to assume that if I was to purchase a donor car off of craigs list, lets say 1996 , would this vehicles parts in theory bolt up to my 92?

Car runs like a champ and I love it, no check engine crap to deal with and is a perfect commuter car for me.

Love the car just want to fix it, and I did not include collision on my insurance due to its a 92 and cheap as crap to insure.

Thanks for your time.

should be good if your swapping the whole front, if not watch for headlights and grille as they become different in the higher years.

Thanks for the response, basically bumper cover and the supports underneath, possibly crossmember right in front of the radiator is a bit tweaked too, might be able to bend that back with some manipulation.

your thinking the headlights and grill? from a 96 might not jive?

The front ends between the 92-94 and 95-96 are slightly different. The front grille and headlights will interchage so long as you change it all from the respective year. The bumper covers, hood, and fenders are interchangeable between all 92-96.

While you are at it change the tailights and center panel to the newer stuff if you find one the same color.

Sounds like a job for me.

I put a 94 bumper on the front of my 96. Here are the differences.

If you are going to put a 95-95, aka gen 3.5 on your 92, the hard where to make it look CLEAN here is what you will need. You need need a grill, head lambs(Corners are the same.), you will need to modify the harness because the gen 3.5 doesn't have parking lamps in the bumper like the gen 3. You will need a new Upper bumper support and of course the bumper cover itself. Bolt locations of these parts are in the same place, its a style change. You can even use the same bumper foam, bolts, nuts, screws.

Hope this helps.
