4th Generation Gen 4 (1998) foglight lenses - glass or plastic?

I was about to refinish the plastic headlight lenses on our 98 Camry with a Crystal View lens restoration kit and I cannot tell for sure if the OEM foglights also have plastic lenses or if they are glass. Does anybody know for certain?

I stopped by a Toyota dealer today and they can't tell me either - but they were willing to order and sell me new ones for $220 for the set. I will leave the foglight lenses in their current condition if they are glass - don't want to take sand paper to them if that is the case.

The foglight lenses are badly pitted and feel like glass when I tap them. But I know for certain that other vehicles manufactured by Toyota for the 1998 model year had plastic foglight lenses so that makes me wonder if ours are just thick plastic.

I did quite a bit of searching on this forum before creating this thread and didn't find an answer. I did see a number of threads where people said that Gen 4 Camry foglights were available only as a dealer installed option. That does not appear to be case since the foglights on our 98 Camry are listed as a $399 option on the original window sticker. If they were not factory installed, they must have been installed at the port of entry.

The few other 98 Camry LE's I have seen with OEM foglights over the past 13 years were equipped like ours with V6, alloy wheels, ABS, traction control, side air bags and JVC audio system upgrade - apparently this configuration is rare.

Thanks in advance for input.

Headlights

All plastic, partner. New headlight assemblies are $25 each on Ebay. Easier than cleaning, maybe. I don't know about the foglights. Most of those I have ever seen are on USDM cars, not JDM made Camry's.

Thanks! Now that I look at the lens again, I can make out the Hella logo. The lenses are incredibly scarred up from road debris.

Yes, these foglights were as a dealer installed option but ours seem to have been installed at the port of entry if not the factory.

In fact, when we bought our Camry, it was at the port of entry and was supposed to have been shipped to a dealership in Winsconsin. Our dealer got it shipped to Kansas City. It arrived with the foglights installed - we saw it being unloaded from the transporter.

The configuration of our 98 Camry - V6, ABS, Traction Control, side air bags, alloy wheels, JVC audio and foglights - seems to be more common in the most northern states. I've seen only a few equipped like ours in all these years.
